Radical Action Grants was established in 2011 and was initially administered under the Biodiversity Defence Society Incorporated. Due to the number of great projects that RAG has supported, we decided to make it its own incorporated society from July 2013.  Radical Action Grants Incorporated is a non-profit incorporated society. The objects of Radical Action Grants are:

• To support grassroots activism primarily in the environment, biodiversity and climate change arenas,
• To donate money to grassroots groups by seeking applications and choosing projects to support,
• To pick grassroots projects and support them directly,
• To seek donations to support the activities of the Society, and
• Any other activity which is consistent with supporting grassroots environmental – especially grassroots climate – activism.

The current Radical Action Grants management committee is: Brian Anderson, a West Coast conservationist and scientist; Claire Dann, a climate justice advocate living in South Canterbury; Frances Mountier, a writer and activist living in Newtown, Wellington, and Alex Winter-Billington, Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairoa and Pākehā, a scientist and environmental activist.
